Playa de los Pocillos offers the best of both worlds. Located on the east coast of Lanzarote, it offers a friendly low-key vibe but is connected by a promenade to the livelier Puerto del Carmen.
The resort itself is excellent for families, with a sandy beach that slowly dips into shallow waters. The promenade is lined with restaurants and cafés, many of which offer free children’s meals. Plus, one of the island’s top attractions, the Rancho Texas Park, is only 10 minutes away and is home to canoeing, horse rides and numerous animals.
There’s also plenty of attractions outside of Playa de los Pocillos that are reachable within an hour by car. There’s Yaiza, a pretty whitewashed village with art galleries, tapas places and a 17th-century church. There’s also historical Teguise, within a castle-turned-museum. Plus, the capital of Lanzarote, Arrecife, is also nearby for a cosmopolitan day-out.
