Protecting your safety and your travel plans during Coronavirus

International travel is back and we’re excited to be helping you plan your next escape.

There’s a lot of information to digest but we’re here to help you understand the new travel guidance, what this means and how it applies to your holiday plans.

On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know about going on holiday in the coming months – including important guidance and requirements. We’ve also noted our most frequently asked questions but if there’s anything else you need to know, please contact one of our experts who are fully briefed on the new guidance and ready to help answer your questions.

If you’re travelling with Barrhead Travel this year, we’d like to remind you about our Stress-Free Guarantee which offers complete financial protection and flexibility on your booking.

Travel Guidance – returning to the UK

There are now no Covid-related rules in place for returning to the UK. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers are free to arrive back into the UK with no tests or vaccine certificate.

There is no requirement to complete a passenger locator form.

Please note that you may still be required to wear face masks on board the plane and in the airport. Guidance may vary depending on where in the UK you are travelling to.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TRAVELLING - OUR TRAVEL CHECKLIST

The world is back open for tourism and, at Barrhead Travel, we’re looking forward to helping you and your family get away and explore new destinations.

We’re working closely with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) to help direct you to the right information for your trip. Travel advice is always subject to change and sometimes at short notice. Please remember, it is your personal responsibility as a traveller to ensure you are well-informed about travel advice as you may encounter new rules and regulations abroad. If you have any further questions, our teams will do their best to help point you to the right source of information.

We recommend following the below checklist as an information guide to help you prepare for your holiday abroad.

Before you travel
  • Make sure you visit the FCDO’s website to find out all the important information you might need to know about your particular destination including familiarising yourself with entry requirements and local guidelines. Visit their website and find information about your destination with their A-Z guide by clicking here
  • Ensure you have adequate travel insurance to cover your trip. It is essential you choose the right type of insurance for your own specific requirements. Speak to our team about adding Barrhead Travel’s recommended travel insurance policy on to your holiday. Please note that some destinations may require proof of travel insurance which covers Covid-19 when entering the country. You should always carry a printed copy of your travel insurance when travelling.
  • Sign up for Foreign Office Travel Advice email alerts for your destination. Find your destination on their A-Z destination index and select “get email alerts.”
  • Arrange any necessary PCR or antigen tests if your destination requires them. Ask our team about our exclusive discounts on testing for travel.
  • Organise your proof of vaccine documentation if the country you are visiting requires this.
During your trip
  • Every destination, resort, cruise line or tour operator may have its own measures in place to protect the health of its visitors and customers. Please remember that every country, cruise or hotel is different and you should familiarise yourself with each before travel. Measures that you may be requested to comply with could include, but are not limited to:
    • Temperature checks on arrival
    • Health screening forms
    • Pre-departure locator forms
    • Social distancing
    • Wearing masks
  • You must be prepared to comply with any local health measures and protocols. Plan ahead and ensure you know what each destination’s approach to Covid-19 is. Find out more information about travelling overseas during coronavirus by visiting the Foreign Office’s coronavirus advice page.
  • Keep an eye on destination updates while you are abroad – sign up to alerts from the Foreign Office and follow their updates on social media
  • Always stay informed of any updates to entry requirements for returning home to the UK. Travel advice – including for returning UK citizens – is subject to change at any time. You can use the FCDO alert service to follow any inbound changes.

Remember, your holiday will have 24/7 emergency in-resort support. Contact details can be found on your booking documents.
