Matagorda Holidays

Matagorda originally started as a suburb of Lanzarote’s liveliest town, Puerto del Carmen, but now stands as an independent resort. You’ll find everything you’d expect from a

Lanzarote holiday resort from beautiful beaches to an incredible surrounding landscape. Plus, the buzzing capital of Arecfief is just down the road.

If you’re a fan of Cesar Manrique, Lanzarote’s famous architect, then you’ll enjoy easy access to his work. In 45 minutes, you can reach two of his most famous creations. The first is Jameos del Agua, a lush garden that rises from an underground lake. The second one is Mirador del Rio, a clifftop observatory with views of the near-deserted island of La Graciosa.

Oh, and did we mention that Los Pocillos and Puerto del Carmen are only a short walk away? Fancy getting away to Matagorda for your next holiday? Speak to one of our in-store experts today.

Costa Teguise - sandy beach of Costa Teguise
Lanzarote - Grand Tour

Adult: £70 Child (2-12 yrs):£41

Enjoy a tour of Lanzarote to see the many sights for which this beautiful island is famous.

You'll start the tour by heading towards the southern part of the island, passing through the village of Uga and into the Fire Mountains for a camel ride. You'll then continue through volcanic terrain to the Timanfaya National Park and then on to the south to see the Lava Coast.

Enjoy panoramic views of the El Janubio salt mines where ancient Canarians worked, and take in the picturesque coastline of Los Hervideros where spectacular shapes have been carved into the rocks by centuries of sea and wind. Lunch is included in Yaiza, a town which has won awards for its beauty and integration into its surroundings. After lunch, you'll cross the most important vine-growing area in Lanzarote, La Geria, a unique example of how a place has adapted to, and made good use of, its available land. The stop includes a visit to a typical winery where you may enjoy a tasting session.

Next, continue north, crossing Teguise (which used to be the island capital), Los Valles and Haría (with a view of the Valley of the Thousand Palm Trees) and visit Los Jameos del Agua, a natural cave of great beauty adapted by magnificent artist César Manrique. Return through Guatiza, seeing the cacti plantations housing cochineal, used as a natural dye, and then back to your resort at approximately 6pm.
