The Kyoto full day tour visits all the main highlights of this historic city: Nijo Castle, with palace buildings arguably the best surviving examples of castle palace architecture of Japan’s feudal era, and a UNESCO World Heritage site; the Golden Temple (Kinkakuji), a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf; then on to the Imperial Palace. After a Japanese lunch, continue to the Heian Shrine, and Sanjusangendo the world’s longest wooden structure, housing 1,001 life-size statues of Buddhist Kannon deities dating back to the 13th century, and Kiyomizu Temple, a Buddhist Temple dating from 1633, built high on a hillside offering magnificent views of Kyoto.
