Visit the Bay of Fundy which not only has the world highest tides but is also the playground for the giant Humpback Whales.

Keep a watch out for moose and bears too! Take a walk on the ocean floor at Hopewell Rocks when the tide is out, or Kayak around the giant pillars which stretch from the ocean floor.

Dine on the freshest local cuisine you will find anywhere.  Crack open a luscious lobster straight from the sea, or savour the salmon, scallops or mussels – it is a seafood lover's paradise!

Itinerary

Upon arrival into Halifax Airport, collect your hire car, and make your way to your downtown Halifax Hotel where you will stay for the following 2 nights.  The remainder of the day is at leisure.

This attractive city is a bustling hub of art galleries, shops, museums, restaurants, sidewalk cafes and vibrant nightlife centred around the picturesque waterfront. Officially founded in 1749 the history dates back even further, to times of the Mi’kmaq natives, European fishermen and the early Acadians, who came long before the British. Take the 3 hour drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Moncton, New Brunswick - a major urban centre where English and French Acadian culture blend harmoniously to create a unique community. Home to two unusual natural phenomena; the Tidal Bore on the Petitcodiac River and the famous Magnetic Hill. Overnight Moncton.

Depart Moncton and follow the Acadian Coastal drive north through coastal towns and villages. Take time to visit Kouchibouguac National Park. The Park is a stunning display of beaches and sand dunes sweeping over 26km. Continue on and join the scenic Miramichi River Route, which travels through the many communities that make up the Miramichi region. Miramichi is New Brunswick’s newest city and home to the famous Miramichi River – a world famous salmon fishing river. The city is made up of many unique shops, restaurants and heritage sites namely St. Michael’s Basilica and Lord Beaverbrook House to name a few. Overnight Miramichi. (breakfast inc.)

This morning explore Miramichi. Take a stroll along one of the many hiking trails around French Fort Cove, visit St. Michael’s Basilica – one of the finest examples of gothic architecture in Canada, take in the Beaverbrook House – the boyhood home of Lord Beaverbrook or relax and try your hand at a spot of fishing – the Miramichi River is a world famous salmon fishing river. In the afternoon depart Miramichi and take a stop in Doaktown and visit the Atlantic Salmon Museum before continuing on to picturesque Fredericton. Welcome to Fredericton - New Brunswick’s capital city noted for its heritage and culture. Spend the afternoon at leisure exploring Fredericton and its attractions. Places to visit include the Historic Garrison District, Beaverbrook Art Gallery, City Hall, Christchurch Cathedral and the Old Government House. For the more energetic enjoy a voyager canoe tour on the Saint John

River or perhaps rent a bicycle and ride the magnificent 85kms trails network that follow the St. John River. Further afield visit the picturesque model

town of Oromocto. Overnight Fredericton.

Depart Fredericton and drive southwest to St. Stephen – the town where the first chocolate bar was invented and the gateway to the Fundy Coastal Drive. This dramatically scenic drive introduces you to the Bay of Fundy – “One of the Marine Wonders of the World”. First stop St. Andrews, one of Canada’s most beautiful seaside resorts. Spend the afternoon at leisure exploring this tranquil area further, suggestions include visiting the Ross Memorial Museum, the Blockhouse, Sheriff Andrews House, Ministers Island, the Hunstman Marine Science Aquarium as well as Kingsbrae Gardens. Today depart by Water Taxi to Campobello Island (Approx. 40 Min crossing). On arrival you will enjoy a Comprehensive sightseeing tour of Campobello Island departing from St. Andrews. Highlights Include: Friars Head, Liberty Point, Head Harbour, East Quoddy Light House Area, to name a few! In the afternoon, enjoy a self guided tour of Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Campobello Island - famous for being the beloved isle of late U. S. President, Franklin D. Roosevelt. The 34-room Roosevelt Cottage Museum is a focal point of Roosevelt Campobello International Park. In the afternoon, also experience afternoon ‘Tea with Eleanor’. Come reflect on the simple joys of Eleanor’s long and fascinating life. Return by Water Taxi to St. Andrews. Overnight St. Andrews. Depart St. Andrews and drive to Black Harbour ready to catch the local ferry over to Grand Manan Island. Grand Manan is the largest Island in the Bay of Fundy and is a haven for whale watchers, bird watchers and nature lovers alike. On arrival explore the archipelago further. There are many hiking trails on the island – a marvellous network of narrow rustic footpaths that allow for further exploration not accessible by most vehicles. Overnight Grand Manan. Today enjoy an unforgettable fully narrated sailing adventure. In season, expect to see several whale species, including the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale, as well as seals and sea birds. If time permits, follow the “unofficial Lighthouse route” of Grand Manan Island. Swallowtail, Long Eddy, Great Duck and Long Point are a few of the Lighthouses to visit. Overnight Grand Manan. Depart Grand Manan on the morning ferry back over to Blacks Harbour. On arrival follow the scenic Fundy along the Fundy Coastal Drive via Saint John. Your route then takes you via St. Martins, a scenic fishing village and Sussex before continuing on to the Fundy National Park. The Fundy National Park has 206km.sq of steep coastal cliffs, forest clad hills, deep rich valleys and clear rolling meadows. Overnight Fundy National Park. (breakfast inc.)

This morning explore this magnificent park. The park is renowned for its hiking trails, with over 104kms of trails to choose from, ranging from easy ½km loops to a demanding 50km circuit around the park. The park is a haven for bird watchers, golfers, cyclists, canoeists and naturalists. Be sure to visit Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park - home of Hopewell Rocks. Visit the excellent interpretive centre on site before exploring this natural phenomenon. Twice each day the highest tides in the world —  up to 46ft/14m — flood the beach, and twice each day you can explore the floor of the Bay of Fundy at low tide! Created over thousands of years by the Bay of Fundy's awesome tidal forces, the Flowerpot Rocks are a natural wonder not to be missed. If time permits visit Cape Enrage Lighthouse and Mary’s Point Bird Sanctuary located nearby. Continue on to Shediac. This evening enjoy the Lobster Cruise from Shediac – the most experiential & educational Lobster Cruise anywhere! Overnight Shediac. (breakfast inc.)

Today you will depart Shediac and make your way back to Halifax, where you will stay for 1 night.  Overnight: Halifax(breakfast inc.)

Check out of your Halifax Hotel.  You have most of the day to explore more of Halifax before returning your hire car to Halifax Airport and boarding your flight back to the UK (breakfast inc.)
