Itinerary

Upon arrival into San Francisco, make your way independently to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy this fascinating city at leisure. Overnight in San Francisco.

Make your way to the cruise terminal and embark on your 10-night 6* Alaska Cruise onboard Regents Seven Seas Mariner.

Spend the day exploring the incredible facilities available onboard your cruise ship. Take a dip in the pool, be pampered at the spa or take in a show in the theatre. Don't forget to sample world-class cuisine in one of the seven dining options onboard.

Nestled against the wooded hills along the mouth of the Columbia River, Astoria is the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies. With its steep hills and beautiful Victorian homes, Astoria has been called the “Little San Francisco of the Pacific Northwest.” Astoria offers the traveler Fort Clasop, the reconstructed winter quarters of the Lewis and Clark expedition, the elegant Victorian mansion of Captain Flavel and excursions into the breathtaking surroundings including Mount St. Helens.

Cruise the Outside Passage and gaze in delight at the clear blue waters of the Pacific Ocean as you sail closer to the vast landscapes of Alaska.

Called "Shee Atika" by the Tlingit Indians, then "New Archangel" by the Russians who ousted them, Sitka boasts a multicultural heritage. Sitting opposite snow-capped Mount Edgecumbe, Sitka is known for its fishing, its annual summer classical-music festival and, of course, its many historic visitor attractions. Two dozen of its attractions are on the National Register of Historic Places, including Castle Hill and Building 29, a structure built by the Russians in 1835. The Sheldon Jackson Museum exhibits one of Alaska's oldest native culture collections.

The Hubbard Glacier is the largest calving glacier on the North American continent. The glacier routinely calves off icebergs as high as 10-story buildings, sending massive blocks of ice into the sea every few minutes. Watching the icebergs crash into the waves will be one of the most unforgettable moments of your trip - make sure you capture it on film so you can relive it time and time again.

Some of the aspiring Klondike gold rushers who made it to Skagway took a look at the 500-mile journey that still lay ahead of them and decided a change of profession was in order. So many of them set up shop as provisioners that Skagway was the largest city in Alaska by the end of the 19th century! Adventure awaits those who arrive in Klondike. Ride the antique White Pass & Yukon narrow-gauge railway, step into the Red Onion Saloon or peruse the restored buildings and wooden boardwalks of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park.

Accessible only by water or air, Juneau is shrouded with a sense of mystery and is surprisingly full of small town charm. Once you arrive, Alaska's capital city will delight you with its bounty of water, forests, and mountains. View the majestic Mendenhall Glacier from the East Glacier Loop Trail, or sail 1,800ft via gondola to Mount Roberts, allowing you to take in panoramic views of Alaska's capital city. The fresh air is sure to whet your appetite so take some time to sample a local treat - crisp crab cakes.

Fondly nicknamed "The Salmon Capital of the World", Ketchikan clutches the shores of the Tongass Narrows, with many shops and houses built right out over the water. Its climate means it is home to incredible lush rainforest. Besides the main attractions — Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village — make this trip even more unforgettable with a flightseeing trip to Misty Fjords National Monument. This is scenery that should only be seen from the sky, and further highlights the savage beauty of Alaska's landscape.

Located between Vancouver and Ketchikan, Alaska's Inside Passage is home to some of the most breath-taking scenery on the face of the earth, and is one of the few sea-lanes where deep-draft vessels can sail close to steep mountain walls. Keep your eyes peeled as you travel past forests in a hundred shades of green, tumbling turquoise glaciers, and peaceful coastal towns loaded with history, culture and adventure.

Wave goodbye to your Alaskan adventure as you disembark from your ship in Vancouver and make your way independently to your hotel. The remainder of the day is for you to enjoy at leisure. Overnight in Vancouver.

Travel onboard the iconic Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. Farmland gives way to the towering peaks of the Coast Mountains before the rumble of raging waters hail the arrivals of Hell's Gate. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops. Overnight in Kamloops.

Your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see a spectacular array of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today’s highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the climb over Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon and the Spiral Tunnels, Your rail journey ends in the hamlet of Lake Louise, surrounded by glaciers and mountain peaks. Overnight in Lake Louise.
