Tonle Sap Secrets - Small Group Tour

Travelling by remork (a Cambodian tuk tuk) this tour takes you through the scenic countryside around Siem Reap to Tonle Sap Lake, home to a diverse collection of wildlife and a stunning floating village.

The Tonle Sap one of the worlds most productive bodies of fresh water swelling to 12,000 km² in wet season and shrinking to as little as 2500 km² during the dry half of the year. Each year, millions of fish come to spawn in the seasonally flooded forest surrounding the lake, attracting a myriad of water birds as well as people, who have settled in villages along the shores and who live with the rhythm of the water. This ecosystem was classified as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1997.

You will take a boat trip around the lake to see the incredible floating villages for yourself and get a taste for life that relies on water-based agriculture and is often ruled by monsoonal rains.

On the way back to Siem Reap, you will take back roads and witness seasonal farming activities like cricket catching, rice planting and harvesting, smoking fish, fish paste (prohoc making), duck farming. You will also stop at a local village in order to pick up Khmer snacks and explore a Buddhist monastery.
