Welcome to the picture-perfect Greek resort of Katelios. This is such a perfect, tranquil spot that Caretta-Caretta turtles come to lay their eggs, an event that you can learn about (and possibly even see) through the Katelios Environmental group.
Other than the turtles, visitors here tend to be more a trickle than a stream, as this part of Kefalonia has almost entirely escaped commercialism. Instead, it has retained a rustic and natural charm.
That’s not to say there isn’t plenty to do here, as if you’re interested in boat hire, kayaking or hiking, you’ll have a pretty full agenda. Katelios is also well equipped when it comes to eating establishments, offering visitors a selection of restaurants, snack cafes and tavernas, as well as some friendly bars where the drinks are cold, and the hospitality is spot on.
