Ancient Thira Ruins from Kamiri
Adult: £TBC
Depart from Kamari for the ancient Thira ruins situated in a unique location on the top of the Messa Vouno Mountain at a height of 356 metres. This strategic point was chosen by the Dorian settlers to build their capital town in the 8th century BC. The journey takes around 10 minutes by bus followed by a further 10-20 minutes on foot.
The excavations uncovered the ruins of ancient buildings, sanctuaries and temples, inscriptions and carved stones of the archaic period. The ancient theatre is situated in an excellent location with spectacular panoramic views across the Aegean Sea.
