What a fantastic combination! Enjoy a cosmopolitan stay in vibrant Vancouver, perched on the edge of the Pacific Ocean in the shadow of the Coast Mountains, then embark on a spectacular 7-night Alaska Cruise onboard the Norwegian Jewel, before taking the trip of a lifetime on board the incomparable Rocky Mountaineer which promises to be a magical experience.

Itinerary

Upon arrival into Vancouver Airport, make your way independently to your overnight hotel, and then enjoy a day exploring this coastal city at leisure. Overnight in Vancouver.

Set sail from Vancouver and get ready to view ancient glaciers, calving icebergs and blue waters on your Alaska cruise, onboard the Norwegian Jewel.

Get ready for unforgettable views and incomparable wildlife-watching experiences as you sail through the islands of Alaska's iconic Inside Passage. Kayaking, glacier walking, hiking and birding are just a few of the unforgettable activities you can enjoy here.

Juneau has been called “Alaska's peak experience” certainly due in part to the unparalleled glacier viewing opportunities available, from such places as Tracy Arm Fjord, the Juneau Icefields and Glacier Bay National Park. Kayak up one of the area's many protected waterways, go flightseeing, tour historic downtown or try your hand at panning for gold. The majestic Mendenhall Glacier also lies nearly 12 miles outside Juneau, but the views and experience make this a trek worthwhile.

In a single year from 1896 to 1897, this remote town along the Inside Passage grew from a few tents to a city of 20,000 ambitious gold seekers. Today, travellers come in search of other riches; specifically, to experience yesteryear along Skagway's charming boardwalk, which is lined with buildings that replicate those Gold Rush days.

Sail to Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, a United Nations World Heritage Site. Comprised of 3.3 million acres of natural wonders, it is home to magnificent glaciers, snow-capped mountains and abundant birds and wildlife. Enjoy a cruise through the Preserve to experience the best of Alaska's savage beauty.

Its Tlingit Indian name, Kach Khanna, means "spread wings of the eagle." Chances are you will see one of these magnificent birds perched atop a Sitka tree during your trip. Thanks to its abundant rainfall, Ketchikan is surrounded by some of the world's most lush wilderness and so provides a total contrast to the glaciers and snow-capped mountains that you have seen so far on your trip.

Enjoy a second journey through the Inside Passage, where the scenery is constantly changing, from picturesque shores to friendly coastal towns.
The Inside Passage includes more than 1,000 islands, seemingly endless shoreline and thousands of idyllic coves and bays. Take in the awe-striking views on offer as your incredible Alaska cruise comes to a close.

After a leisurely breakfast on board, disembark your cruise ship and make your way independently to your hotel. The rest of the day is for you to enjoy the sights of Vancouver at your own pace.

Today your tour begins with an introduction to downtown including Canada Place, and Robson Street. Wind through historic and modern architectural wonders en route to Stanley Park, a 1,000-acre natural oasis. View the First Nations Totem Poles, and gaze upon rainforest and shoreline scenery en route through the park. Get the camera ready for a photo stop at Prospect Point, with a great view of Lions Gate Bridge. Continue to the English Bay beach area, followed by the eclectic Granville Island Market.

Top off this adventure with a glass elevator ride 169 metres above the streets, at the Vancouver Lookout. Enjoy views of the ocean, the Coastal Mountains, the thriving city and rugged shoreline.

You have 2 full days to explore more of this amazing city at your leisure. Learn about the fascinating art and culture of this coastal city at one of the many museums, indulge in some retail therapy or get your adrenaline rush by walking across the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Overnights in Vancouver.

Travel on board the award-winning Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Kamloops in the heart of British Columbia. On today’s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser River valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade mountains. Overnight hotel stay in Kamloops.

Your journey continues further eastwards into the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see spectacular scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Your rail journey ends in Banff. Overnight in Banff.

Spend your day at leisure in Banff. See amazing views from the top of Sulphur Mountain with a trip on the Banff Gondola (included). Why not spend your afternoon unwinding in the famous Upper Hot Springs, or explore one of the many mountain trails on foot? Overnight in Banff.

Today you will leave the Rocky Mountains behind and travel south to the Stampede City of Calgary. You will arrive at Calgary airport for your return flight back to the UK.
