You are free today to explore the city at leisure. No trip to Vancouver would be complete without a visit to Stanley Park. Situated between English Bay and Burrard Inlet, the peninsula at the north-western edge of down-town Vancouver, Stanley Park covers 1,000 acres. Its seawall, beaches, walking trails, totem poles, aquarium, miniature railway and more attract 8 million visitors each year. Today, embark on your 2-day Rocky Mountaineer Rail Journey from Vancouver to Banff in SilverLeaf Service. You will see a variety of stunning scenery on your way, from the lush and fertile lands of British Columbia to the Fraser Valley, where you are left to marvel at the spectacular peaks that make up the Coast Mountains before entering the Fraser Canyon, part of the Fraser Fault. You’ll see the thundering waters of Hell’s Gate, with towering 1000-foot rock walls. With stunning vistas of the Thompson River you will continue on towards the historic city of Kamloops and deeper into Thompson Country, gateway to the Interior of British Columbia. The train stops in Kamloops in the evening, so you won’t miss any scenery whilst sleeping! Overnight in Kamloops.

The Rocky Mountaineer continues east, providing wondrous views of the South Thompson River and pass Craigellachie. Rising up to 1300m at Rogers Pass in the Selkirk Mountains, you will be amazed; with seemingly endless tunnels and unbelievable views of the Glaciers nearby, it's one of the highlights of the tour. You can choose to end your journey in Banff National Park and take in some of the exquisite wildlife parks, reserves and sample the area. A transfer has been arranged to take you to your hotel. Today is at leisure for you to explore the mountain hamlet of Banff. Outside of town, the dramatic Canadian scenery awaits you. Why not check out the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, or unwind in the famous therapeutic spring waters of the Upper Hot Springs? Overnight in Banff.

Journey from Vermilion Lakes on a luxury coach to the "Jewel of the Canadian Rockies": Lake Louise. Here you will see the famous Victoria Glacier where the rock flour turns the lake emerald green. Then shadow the Great Divide exploring the natural viewpoints of Crowfoot Glacier and Peyto Lake. Continue alongside the Mistaya River to the Big Hill and the Columbia Icefield. At the Columbia Icefield ride on an all-terrain Ice Explorer and sip on the fresh waters of a glacier. Continue on through the Sunwapta Valley and take a stroll at Athabasca Falls before a late afternoon arrival at Jasper. Overnight in Jasper.

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Jasper. With fascinating beauty and history, Jasper is set amid some of the most rugged peaks of the Rockies. Why not take a tram ride up Whistler's Mountain or soak in the pools at Miette Hot Springs - among the Rockies' warmest natural hot springs? Visit Maligne Lake, one of the most photographed lakes in the world and enjoy a 90-minute cruise heading toward the south end of this postcard setting (suggested activities are not included). Spend the day relaxing in the mountain town of Jasper. This evening board VIA Rail’s ‘Canadian’ for the famous train journey across the prairies to Toronto.
