A visit to the modern and colonial parts of the city of Lima the "City of Kings", starting in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, including an overview of the impressive Huaca Huallamarca. The tour later takes you to the Historic Centre, for a visit to the Santo Domingo Convent -a World Heritage Site- where the remains of our patron saints St. Martin of Porres. and Saint Rose of Lima lie. See the Main Square, surrounded by the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the Municipality of Lima and the Cathedral. This ends with a stop to sample a pisco sour. The final part of the tour takes you to the Larco Museum, a private collection of treasures from ancient Peru. This inspiring collection helps visitors to understand and enjoy more than five thousand years of Peruvian history, represented by more than 45,000 exhibits. Lima, Arequipa (CITY TOUR + SANTA CATALINA CONVENT)Day 3
At scheduled time, you will be picked up from the hotel and transferred to the airport to take the departure flight. Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel. This tour starts in the Main Square, which is surrounded by the city's most representative buildings. This is followed by a visit to the Jesuit church, the oldest and most important example of religious architecture employing sillar. You then continue through the classical districts of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara, including a visit to the famous vantage point with its spectacular views of the volcanoes Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu, as well as the city of Arequipa itself. Then on to Santa Catalina Convent, founded in 1580, with its cloisters, picturesque streets and plazas that remain the same as they were centuries ago. You will also learn about the lives of the select group of nuns who lived there.
Arequipa - ColcaDay 4
You will leave your hotel and start with an unforgettable trip. Go through the town of Yura, through the Aguada Blanca and Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve. Make a stop at Patapampa to freshen up before heading to Chivay, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch. You will have the rest of the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel’s facilities or to take the optional visit to the Calera thermal waters. Colca - PunoDay 5
You will head towards the Cross of the Condor, the best location to admire the Colca Canyon and -if weather allows it- you will get the chance to observe the majestic flight of the condors. On your way back, you will visit the colorful towns of Pinchollo and Maca, before arriving at Chivay, where you will have lunch. Finally, you will return to your hotel in Puno. The trip begins early as you head out of the city of Puno towards Taquile Island. The culture on the island is old, dating back to Pre-Incan times. The islanders still live according to the traditions and beliefs of their ancestors and are world renowned for their lovely outfits and incredible textiles. In fact, UNESCO has declared the textile art of Taquile Island as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Next, while still on the island, you will visit the community of Huayllano, whose members will show you their normal artistic, handicraft, and farming activities. After this, you will enjoy a traditional box lunch and then sail over to the famous Uros Islands, a set of man-made floating islands in the middle of the Lake Titicaca National Reserve. Here, you will meet the islanders, hunters and gatherers and descendants of the first altiplano inhabitants, who still live on totora reed platforms.
Puno, CuzcoDay 7
Transfer from the hotel to the bus station. You will leave the station to start your trip by bus to Cusco, enjoying the wonderful scenery of Cusco's South Valley. Continue with a visit to La Raya, the highest point on the road between Cusco and Puno, from where you will get excellent photo opportunities. Then, you will visit the Racchi archeological site, known as "The Temple of God Wiracocha". Your last stop will be at Andahuaylillas, a town where you will find a precious church from the 17th century, which boasts an amazing organ decorated with angels and cherubs. After this, you will arrive to the Puno bus station. Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel.
Visit to the city of Cusco, also called the Imperial City, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The excursion starts at Koricancha temple, an ancient Inca palace and centre of worship of the sun god, on the site of which the Dominicans ordered a church to be built, which survives to this day. Then to the Main Square, where you will visit the cathedral, the most important religious building in the city. The climb continues to Sacsayhuamán fortress, an impressive example of Inca military architecture. Then to Kenko, where the sun, moon and stars were worshipped. Next: a visit to Puca-Pucara, which may have been a ¿tambo¿ or rest and lodging place for the Inca. Finally, a visit to the Inka¿s Expression art workshop, where you will be able to see artists working in silver, paint and wood -the perfect place to see Andean art. Get to know the Sacred Valley. Stop at Racchi vantage point to admire the beautiful natural scenery. You will also go to Moray to see the enormous circular terraces that were used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. This is followed by the Maras salt pans, which produce the finest salt in the world, used by great international chefs. A delicious lunch will be served in a local restaurant. After lunch you will continue to Ollantaytambo, one of the most imposing building complexes of the Inca Empire and the site of one of the Spanish Conquistadors' rare strategic defeats. Famous for its terraced fields (cut into the hillsides), Ollantaytambo was an effective fortress as well as a religious centre. Finally, a visit to the village of Ollantaytambo, the only ¿living Inca town¿ and the best remaining example of Inca urban planning, with stone-paved streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th Century.
Valle Sagrado, CuzcoDay 10
A visit to one of the most important tourist destinations in the world: Machu Picchu. The excursion starts with a train trip to the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. The natural beauty of the surroundings makes the train the best way to start your visit. When you arrive, you will start the ascent to the ruins, which will without a doubt be one of your most unforgettable experiences. At Machu Picchu you can see every part of one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World, with free time to explore on your own, relax and take some impressive photos. Then it is back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch in a local restaurant and overnight. Optional: With additional $39.00 per person you can take a private local guide.
