Slovenia Skiing Holidays

Dotted across the Julian Alps, the three main ski resorts in Slovenia have gentle, uncrowded slopes. The superb ski schools make it a popular pick for beginners and families, and excellent snowmaking keeps the powder topped up throughout the winter. Everything is great value too – from accommodation to restaurants – and the medieval villages and national park scenery add a fairy tale touch to Kranjska Gora, Bohinj and Bled.

Ski info

Area lift passes cover 72km of piste across Kranjska Gora, Krvavec and Vogel, and regular buses run between them. The areas are small but pack in good beginner slopes and a few reds and blacks.

Ski Schools

Slovenia’s ski schools are highly rated and you’ll make quick progress under the guidance of English-speaking instructors. Start in small nursery areas in Kranjska Gora or Vogel and then practise your moves on easy blues.

Winter wonderland

Slovenia’s known for magical scenery, from snow-dusted forests to frozen lakes. Visit Bled to see the country’s most photographed sight – a church on a tiny island in the lake, watched over by a clifftop castle.

Best family ski resorts
Peaceful Bled is an easy bus ride from the Vogel ski area and has plenty of winter activities to keep kids happy off the slopes.

Best après-ski resorts
Kranjska Gora’s the liveliest resort, with several bars where you can round off your day with drinks and music. Try the local tipple, hot white wine.

Best beginner ski resorts
Bohinj is just a few minutes’ bus ride from the Vogel ski area, so beginners have easy access to the best gentle blue runs.
