Amadores is a fairly new addition to the Gran Canaria holiday line-up. Found on the south-west coast, everything here is fairly low-key with most days centring on the beach and the waterfront restaurants. The beach itself is a curved bay with 500m of sand and a glittering promenade lies just behind it. It’s no wonder than it boasts Blue Flag accreditation.
But if you do fancy the option of lively evening entertainment, the louder resort of Puerto Rico is just next door. There’s a marina and a few shopping centres – as well as impressive nightlife to let your hair down with. Then 20-minutes in the other direction you have Puerto de Mogan, aka the Venice of the Canaries. Plus, the island’s capital, Las Palmas, is only an hour’s drive away.
