Holidays to Roquetas de Mar
Roquetas de Mar is the main resort in the up-and-coming Almeria.
This former fishing village has been popular with Spanish tourist for decades, and now Brits seeking a traditional Spanish getaway are discovering it too. There’s a lovely old-town – with narrow streets and rustic houses – as well as a modern promenade lined with tapas bars and restaurants.
While the town itself is charming and scenic, it’s the surrounding landscape where the real beauty lies. Just 5 minutes outside the main town you’ll find Punta Entinas Sabinar Natural Park, which is home to thyme covered sand dunes, flamingos and protected wetlands. But if mountain hikes and bird-watching is more your idea of a good day out, Cabo de Gata Natural Park is only an hour away.
