Away from the beaches, Skiathos is steeped in history, some of which goes all the way back to the prehistoric era. The old capital city of Kastro is definitely worth a visit to see the atmospheric crumbling ruins and all over the island, there are architectural gems in the churches and houses, as well as monuments.
