We are not an affected people, in Sweden life is simply and to be enjoyed. Skiing is often a family affair, and the Swedish mountain ski resorts have had many years to become experts in taking care of the whole family – everything from the tiny tots making their first tentative attempts on the kids slope, to the advanced skiers who fly down the steepest of descents. Many winter resorts also offer a number of exciting activities away from the slopes such as cross-country skiing, scooter safari, dog-sledding, Iceland pony riding or playing in the kids adventure land. Or maybe you just want to rest your body and enjoy a moment's relaxation in the hotel's relaxation center. The city's 14 islands are dotted with grassy areas and parks, and Stockholmers swim and fish in the centre of the city. Stockholm is also the home of the world’s first urban national park, the Eco park, which stretches from Djurgården in the city centre out into the archipelago. You can bike, take a boat or choose to walk around and discover Stockholm. Stroll through Stockholm's botanical gardens, listen to outdoor concerts in the parks or take a boat out to some of the islands 20 minutes by boat from Stockholm city center. The spiny, dark edge line of the spruce trees on the horizon sets the scene nicely. The summer night sky watches over the whole landscape. The natural scenery is captivating, even in silence. Opera lovers and opera novices sit closely alongside each other and listen through the night. The Latvian National Opera from Riga are on stage performing “Nabucco”. The beautiful, dramatic and heartfelt music exhilarates the senses, enhances the poetic lyrics in the song, brings them to life and engraves their message into the very soul. Everyone witnesses a spectacle featuring splendorous apparel in totally natural surroundings. The mountain is ablaze, and the lake is on fire. Dalhalla's little lake and the surrounding rocks are transformed as if by magic to the banks of the Euphrates in the biblical Babylon.
