Lithuania Holidays

Nature has been generous to Lithuania. Although there are no mountains or great forests, the country's beauty lies in the diversity of its landscape. This is a place of rolling hills and gentle plains; of quietly flowing rivers and of lakes, which reflect the blueness of the sky. The largest river, the Nemunas, gathers and carries the waters of many tributaries to the Baltic Sea, wherein lies Lithuania's famous "amber coast". Called the Curonian Spit, it is a sixty mile-long bank of sand dunes and pine trees, which stretches from the southwest to the seaport of KlaipÄ—da and encloses the vast Curonian Lagoon. For centuries, amber, Lithuania's precious harvest of the sea, has been washed onto these golden sands. There is well-developed bus system in each biggest town of Lithuania. Trolley buses are in Vilnius and Kaunas. Public transport usually starts about 5 a.m and continues until 11 p.m. Tickets for buses are available in each state press stalls. They cost 0.80 Lt and 1 Lt from bus driver. Monthly ticket is available for 20-25 Lt and is valid on buses and trolley buses separately. Minibuses are a very quick and cheap kind of transport. It cost 2 Lt (depends on town). Foreign citizens or stateless persons willing to visit Lithuania are requested to obtain a visa. Visa is a sticker in a foreign passport or other recognised travel document of an individual, which permits it's holder to come to the Republic of Lithuania, to stay in it, to leave it or to travel through it by transit.
