Estonia is situated in Eastern Europe and is bordered by the Baltic Sea, Latvia and the Russian federation; the country has many islands, lakes and forests and has great natural scenic beauty. The country has been populated since around 2,500 BC, which makes it the longest settled country on the continent. Estonia has three national parks with almost completely unspoiled forests and swamps; there are also picturesque fishing villages and historic manors. You might also catch a glimpse of wolves, bears, elk and lynx.

Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and has an old medieval town called Vanalinn, with cobbled streets, red-capped towers, spires and all surrounded by ancient city walls. There is also the Toompea Castle, which is built where the ancient Estonians wooden fortress stood before the Danish invasion in 1912. It is well known that whoever's flag is flying at the top of the tower is the ruler of Estonia.

Winter is the best time to visit for anyone who is interested in skiing, skating or ice fishing, one drawback of visiting during winter, there is a limited amount of daylight hours. The climate is temperate with warm summers and freezing winters.
