The small island of Lanzarote, which is part of the Canary Islands,is incredibly beautiful. With rocky coastlines, rugged landscapes from years of volcanic activity and breath taking beaches with white sand blown in from the Sahara. The island of Lanzarote is charming. There are many things to see and do in Lanzarote, some of these are; The Timanfaya National Park, it is situated in the Montana’s del Fuego or Fire Mountains, with the rare plants and crater like landscape caused by volcanic eruptions, it is not to be missed. The mountains were formed in the 18th century when more than 100 volcanic eruptions occurred within 6 years, many of the villages were destroyed and it was declared a national park in 1968. Cueva de los verdes or Green Caves were also formed from volcanic eruptions. The Rancho Texas Park, this western theme park has a red Indian village and show, there is also a mini zoo with iquanas, crocodiles and many other birds and animals. Famara Beach also has a shipwreck visitors can view. The liveliest nightlife in Lanzarote takes place in the capital Arrecife and the two main resorts of Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise. There are plenty of bars and clubs to choose from, clubs stay open until the last person leaves, which is usually around 5 or 6am. Lanzarote has sun all year round, the climate is hot and dry and there are only around 16 days of rainfall per year.
