Port Aventura is one of the latest and largest theme parks in europe. It is situated on the costa dorada, spain close to the resort of salou which is especially popular with the British it is now owned and run by Universal Studios.
The park is divided into four main area's – a mediterranean, polynesian, chinese and a wild west area - with each one, having it’s own theme, both in setting, food available and style.
If you are visiting the area on your holidays this summer – and especially if you are taking children or teenagers with you, it is definitely a place well worth visiting. there are plenty of shows and a great selection of rides in this well laid out and surprisingly clean park, there are many street shows with stilt walkers and jugglers etc.
The dragon khan roller coaster is claimed to be the biggest in Europe and it is the one ride that attracts all the daredevils. It has some stupendous drops and turns which really make you ‘heave’ just watching, let alone riding on it. The shows on offer were good with Chinese magicians, Polynesian dancers and a terrific Wild west ‘shoot-out’ show in a saloon..
Food is available in all the areas, usually in accordance with the themes pertaining in the ‘regions’. Food like Burgers and Ribs in the Wild west, Chinese food in the Chinese etc.
Port Aventura is definitely a place to visit if you are in the area. Great for all the family – but not too big that you can’t get around it easily - but plenty to keep everyone occupied in the sunshine.
