Geneva has a beautiful location at the west end of the huge lake of the same name and within sight of the snow-capped Mont Blanc. Geneva is a good place for trade unionists (it houses the International Labour Organisation and – just outside – the Union Network International) and for dessert lovers (the ice cream dishes in Mövenpick are to die for).

A little known fact: the ILO is an official agency of the United Nations, but Switzerland is one of the few countries in the world that is not in the UN (actually it’s not in anything, including the European Union). Situated in the centre of Western Europe on the banks of the Lake Geneva, the biggest lake of the Old Continent, below the Jura Mountains and near the Alps, Geneva has a manifold of beautiful and interesting sites, which will charm even the most complicated visitors.
