Classic International Cruises

Classic International Cruises is the trading name used by World Cruises Agency and the ship-owners they represent.

In stark contrast to the rapid development in recent years of the global cruise conglomerates and the growing trend towards newer larger resort style vessels, World Cruises Agency, acting as Agents for the ship-owners and trading as Classic International Cruises, continue to operate smaller, more traditional tonnage, at the highest standards of customer satisfaction, whilst maintaining their much cherished independence and conservative approach to business and traditional maritime heritage.

While in today's marketplace many of the mainstream cruise line brands have lost their independence, the companies trading under the Classic International Cruises trademark are proud to have retained their autonomy and to have earned the right to be placed within a diminishing elite group of very well established, yet truly independent, shipping companies.

One of Classic International Cruises' unique key operational strengths has been the ability to deploy ships in different markets, providing products that are tailor-made for each specific market.

Arion

Arion

With a yacht-like ambience, Arion has a particular style, charm and grace which can only be found on vessels of this size. Recently refurbished, Arion is able to offer you a truly memorable cruising experience combined with a service that is second to none.

In March 2000, the Arion underwent a total reconstruction made in Lisbon on the amount of 15 million dollars. Her interiors were designed and decorated by Arminio Lozzi and George Potamianos, who were able to create a subtle atmosphere of light blending and soft colours through it's new public rooms and passenger cabins. Renamed as "Arion" and coming under Arcalia’s management in 2000, the ship has been sailing since then around the globe.

Aboard, the restaurant provides a warm and relaxing environment in which to enjoy the leisurely prepared meals prepared for you by our international Chefs. Classic International Cruises menus are designed under the personal supervision of our Corporate Chef, Laurent Manceau. Alternatively you may wish to enjoy lunch "al fresco" style in the Lido Lounge Bar, and don't forget afternoon tea when you can savour a selection of finger sandwiches, fresh warm scones and a choice of tea from the wide selection carried on board. .

A cruise on board Arion is the ideal choice for passengers wishing to visit cosy harbours and ports of call larger vessels are not able to access. After a perfect day ashore or simply relaxing on deck, why not enjoy an after dinner drink in one of Arion's intimate lounges before taking in the show or enjoying the night sky from the open deck.

Athena

Athena

Athena was originally built as a trans-atlantic ocean liner and in 1994 the vessel changed ownership and was virtually stripped to her hull and re-constructed and restored as a beautiful new premium rated contemporary cruise ship. With a handsome profile and a traditional walk around promenade deck, Athena is a medium to small sized cruise ship by today’s standards carrying about 550 passengers and offering a wide selection of well appointed public lounges and comfortable cabin accommodation spanning eight passenger decks serviced by two lifts.

Her enhanced facilities include the impressive Olissipo Restaurant with an alternative buffet dining facility in the Lotus Lounge, a choice of five comfortable lounges and bars including the impressive Calypso Show Lounge, plus a nightclub, cinema, casino, shopping boutique and photo shop, library, card room, fitness and health centre with a sauna and massage, an outdoor swimming pool and a beautiful marbled reception area.

A majority of cabins have a sea view and all 276 passenger cabins have private en-suite facilities with a bath tub and shower, a television for satellite programmes and in house movies, a fridge and mini bar facility, hairdryer and personal safe. There is a selection of twin-bedded and double-bedded cabins, and also more luxurious mini suites and spacious balcony suites with the added benefit of Jacuzzis. A limited number of cabins also have extra upper foldaway pullman berths or sofa bed.

The Classic International Cruises brand has always been associated with great value. Athena will be no exception, offering interesting cruise itineraries throughout the seas of the world.

Funchal

Funchal

Funchal, the first vessel managed by Arcalia, actually began her career as the Portuguese Presidential Yacht, for transatlantic visits, before her conversion into a cruise vessel. A regular refurbishment programme has maintained her high standard.

At 10,000 gross tons, this classic cruise liner with her beautiful profile charming interiors and sheltered promenade decks is renowned for her yacht-like ambience. As a 571 passengers capacity vessel, she is exceptionally convivial and this more social, personalised style of cruising, along with her attentive and dedicated staff crew, some of which have been with her for over 20 years, has enabled her to attract a strong loyal following of repeat clientele.

All around the world, along the magnificent South America coastline, the Artic Circle, the Norwegian Fjords, The Atlantic Islands, the Mediterranean Sea and recently Australia, the Funchal presently stands out one of the finest examples of classic cruise liner, whose kind is increasingly sought out by experienced cruise travellers.

She truly is as enchanting as the beautiful island of Madeira, from whose capital she takes her name.

Princess Daphne

Princess Daphne

With her very elegant classic profile, Princess Daphne boasts charm and grace.

Originally built in 1955 as a cargo-passenger ship, under the name Port Sydney, she underwent her first conversion in 1974 into a luxury passenger cruise ship. Since then she has been rebuilt and refurbished a number of times and has sailed under the names Daphne, Switzerland and Ocean Monarch.

Her last major refurbishment took place in the beginning of 2008, as she came under the Classic nternational Cruises banner, and saw her change her name to Princess Daphne. She now boasts 241 of the largest cabins found on any cruise ship today, of which 27 are suites. Her sturdy hull and very spacious cabins make her an ideal sea-going vessel and the perfect ship for both short and long distance ocean cruising. Her attractive and well appointed public areas, wide exterior decks and very comfortable cabin accommodation make Princess Daphne the perfect choice for classic cruise aficionados around the world.

Carrying no more than 550 passengers, Princess Daphne is particularly warm and welcoming as she benefits from a uniquely personalized and attentive service that can only be found aboard a vessel of her size.

After a fun day ashore or a relaxing day on the deck or by the pool, savour the fine meals, pastries and desserts prepared for you by our international chefs in the elegant surroundings of the ship's restaurant or Lido Buffet. In the evening, experience the varied entertainment programme in the ship's lounges and bars, and why not try one of our many cocktails.

With a very experienced and dedicated staff and crew, who will ensure to be at your disposal whenever needed, MV Princess Daphne offers a unique and memorable cruising experience for an unforgettable vacation at sea!
